Nitto trail grappler is more rugged than the toyo tire open country. I know many dislike the 37 x 12.5, but to me it makes a 37 look. But the trail graps and toyo m/t's are very similar.

I've ran all 3 of them, ko2's are at tires though, so they are in a different category with respect of the nitto tg's or the toyo mt's, it's my opinion nittos have a softer compound that does great in rocks, toyos are a little harder, so they tend to last more than the nittos if you're doing a lot of hwy driving, prob one of the longest lasting mt tire there is out there, toyos are. So, if durability is a high priority, the open country rt tire remains your best option.
The nitto are so squirmy and it will be fine on your truck since they are the same size. For example, the open country mt and nitto trail grappler only offer buyers a limited warranty, not a specific mileage guarantee. Either should work well for you depending on your needs. Nitto does in the trail grappler. I have yet to watch but i've always felt nitto makes the best street tire and mt the best track tire.

They look cool though lol. The toyo mt is more comparable to the nitto trail grappler than the nitto mud grappler. The nitto g2's and toyo at2's are delivering better mileage than their predecessors.
I trust bookys opinion, and without watching the video, i'll say it's a. They rode great had just normal road noise from a mud tire. The toyo open country mt is yet another solid performer.
The mud grapplers are real loud, sometimes hard to balance and my buddy got about 20k miles out of a set on a 1500 ram. However, the toyo open country vibrates a lot less than the nittos. I really wish toyo made a 37x12.50r18 mt.
Will not be driven in rain/winter looking at mt et street s/s vs nitto nt05r vs toyo r888 tia! I had the toyos first, i loved them. The open country is more likely to be fuel efficient because of this too.

Get the trail grapplers, they are very similar to the toyos (toyo and nitto are sister companies) The mud grappler doesn't sound like it suits you, as it is louder and wears faster than your other options. Although, toyo mt has a more aggressive look and slightly wet grip.
Discussion starter · #1 · jan 20, 2011. I lowered my truck so i had to get rid on the 37s so i decided to try the nitto 35 mud. They are very capable for adventure but mt will be more dependable especially if you need tires that can handle mud and are soft enough to climb harsh terrain.
